Based on the weather predictions and expected road condition still in effect for tomorrow, Kids in Christ will be CLOSED on Thursday, December 22 and Friday, December 23.

Current National Weather Service message for Highland IL:

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM THURSDAY TO MIDNIGHT CST THURSDAY NIGHT... ...WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THURSDAY TO NOON CST FRIDAY...


* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. For the Wind Chill Warning, dangerously cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 30 below zero.


* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Illinois. Portions of central, east central, and southeast Missouri.


* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 6 AM Thursday to Midnight CST Thursday Night. For the Wind Chill Warning, from 6 PM Thursday to Noon CST Friday.


* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


The rapid accumulation of snow will make travel extremely difficult, if not impossible.

Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility.
