The mission of Kids in Christ is to provide local families of school aged children with a Christian based child care program in a safe, well supervised, and loving environment by encouraging them through biblical stories, scripture, prayer and the school district's VIP word of the month.

PROGRAMS

KIDS IN CHRIST LATCHKEY

Our before and after school childcare program is available at the Highland Primary and Elementary Schools from 6 a.m. – 8 a.m. and afternoon dismissal – 6 p.m. every day school is in session.

On those pre-lunch dismissal days, we have a pizza party!

Children engage in learning Bible stories, short devotionals, snacks and art projects, as well as having time for play and homework. We are a licensed exempt, ecumenical ministry sponsored by Highland Hope UMC.

KIDS IN CHRIST SCHOOL HOLIDAY CAMP

Realizing our families and others need a place for their kids on school holidays and teacher institutes, we’ve added camp days during the school year.

Located at Highland Hope UMC, we provide service from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. for Kindergarten — 6th grade. We provide morning and afternoon snack (campers bring their own lunch), as well as many activities throughout the days. We may be singing, dancing, reading, creating art projects, playing outside when weather permits, and then there are all the fun activities our teachers dream up for the children.

KIDS IN CHRIST SUMMER CAMP

We are excited about our Kids in Christ summer program! Kids in Christ hosts a Christian summer camp that takes place at Highland Hope UMC. The camp operates Monday – Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Summer Camp is available to children going into Kindergarten through Grade 7.  Because camp spaces are limited, enrollment is by invite only due to the high demand and limited space.

Our summer calendar quickly fills up with scheduled field trips and activities.  We travel to local attractions such as the Lory Theater, Poplar Junction for bowling, Edison’s, and several other fun locations.  Also, we swim each week by age group at Lindendale Park, weather permitting. 

​

Children bring sack lunches with a drink (if they want something other than water). Also, we need to know of any allergies so we can plan appropriate snacks for all.

​

We are looking forward to a fun filled summer of Christian blessings!
