Latchkey Announcement

KiC Families and Friends,

It is with great sadness and regret that we send you this notification.  As you have been informed, our Director has accepted another position and will transition to her new role towards the end of our Summer Program.  Our Assistant Director position was also vacated near the end of the school year when she accepted a position with the school district.  Make no mistake, we are extremely happy for them both.  However, after receiving several well qualified resumes and conducting multiple interviews, we have not been successful in hiring a new Director. 

In addition to the Director position, the Assistant Director and several Latchkey staff positions have not been filled.  With little time left before the school year begins, Highland Hope’s Kids in Christ Board has reached the very difficult decision to discontinue the school year’s Latchkey program due to these staffing level issues.  While we understand the challenges this will create for many families, the program cannot operate without the supervision and staff required to provide a safe, quality child care environment. 

We are leaving the door open for the possibility that a solution could still present itself, but we feel the likelihood is low and it would be irresponsible to not give you as much notice as possible in order to make other arrangements.  Assuming that solution isn’t found in time, our Business Manager, Mr. Stratton, will begin sending refunds of your Latchkey registration fees near the start of school.
