Cancellations and Closures create challenges for families. Having a back-up plan is key to minimizing the impact of severe weather. The safety of your children and our staff is of the utmost importance.
As stated on the registration form you read and acknowledged, Kids in Christ will not offer childcare on scheduled school days when school is cancelled or released early due to unsafe weather situations or other emergency conditions.
During Day Camp or Summer Camp timeframes, Kids in Christ will monitor the forecasts of the National Weather Service and local news outlets to determine the severity of any predicted weather event .
Weather predictions have varying degrees of accuracy at any given location. We must do our best to implement precautions for events that have a reasonable expectation of occurring. Prediction accuracy increases the closer we get to the event, but offers less time parents have to react to a closure. Closing too soon risks unnecessary challenges for families if a predicted storm changes course or weakens in strength. Therefore, any decision to close will be made when we have sufficient information to make that determination.
Steps you can take to mitigate the challenges of severe weather predictions:
Keep your children home if at all possible when severe weather is predicted. Your decision to do so eliminates any impact from our decision.
Have a back-up plan for childcare if KiC determines it is in everyone's best interest to close.
Stay informed of weather predictions and local closure announcements, to include Kids in Christ.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping everyone safe when potentially unsafe conditions are in the forecast.
